In the face of the current climatic crisis, actions of tree planting and park formation once in a decade, are not enough. Cities need a radical change of approach to urban green places. Building resilience requires the process of “rewilding”, that is purposeful introduction of nature to urbanised areas. Four complementary strategies (working names) – wilderness urban planning (to the city scale), green acupuncture (bottom-up and local initiatives), greening the greenery (increasing biodiversity of existing green areas), and purposeful abandonment (protection of the fourth nature) – constitute a complex vision of the city of the future, more resilient, healthier, and more people and nature friendly. Residents’ engagement and education are crucial for implementing it, so that new forms of urban greenery are accepted.
