3 Harmony with Nature: The Application of Bamboo as a Reflection of the ‘Harmony Between Man and Nature’ in Traditional Chinese Creative Philosophy
This article explores how the “Harmony Between Man and Nature” ecological concept applies to traditional bamboo weaving. It analyzes bamboo’s multiple attributes and design value, the current situation and future challenges of traditional bamboo weaving, and the insights this concept offers to innovative bamboo weaving design. Although traditional bamboo weaving faces challenges such as complex production processes, low efficiency, and conservative product types, it also carries significant opportunities, especially in emotional experience and cultural inheritance. By valuing natural resources, safeguarding the environment, and passing on social culture, bamboo weaving can not only continue its traditional appeal but also contribute to sustainable development. Future efforts should further integrate traditional craftsmanship with modern technology and design to foster eco-friendly, culturally rich innovations, paving new paths for the inheritance and growth of traditional crafts.
