The article is dedicated to practices from the borders of design, provoking the recipients’ critical reflection. The author presents the moment, when the concept of critical design was constituted, explaining its assumptions and goals. He also discusses related practices and manifestos important to this design area. On the basis of selected examples, he explains the ways used by designers to make critical-and-speculative projects, and evaluates attempts at systematising terminology connected with critical design attitudes to date.
