2 Altered states of consciousness. Is designing under market reality reconcilable with academic thinking?
Design-based planning of business development strategies not only provides a chance of building competitive advantage by means of innovation, but foremost it gives a hope of limiting the negative effects of business on the environment. Year on year, in the face of contemporary challenges posed by the planet and humanity, such an approach to design and designers’ role gains importance. The author, an experienced product and service designer as well as a lecturer in the Faculty of Industrial Design of the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków, advocates the change of approach to market-related design and explains the reasons for the academic community to join in the process.
